Dear Parents,
For many years IUSD students have participated in an exciting design and engineering competition called Astounding Inventions. Students are asked to think of a real-world problem they would like to solve and create an invention or design that might help to fix this problem.
Your child is invited to let his or her imagination go wild and create something new and exciting. Everyone can be an inventor! Inventors are problem solvers!
Projects are judged on the child’s ideas, not on the model.
We will be collecting submissions from interested UP students on Thursday, December 20. Selected student projects will move on to the district’s contest, which will be held on Saturday,January 26, 2019 at Irvine Valley College. These winning projects must be set up at IVC on Friday,January 25, 2019.
Parental involvement is encouraged; however, it is important that the invention ideas, illustrations, and descriptions are your child’s own. Parents of K-3 students may assist with filling out the Inventor’s Notebook; parents of all students may help with building and photographing the models.
Visit the links below for information on how to complete the three required elements of the contest: the model, the Inventor’s Notebook, and the display. Make sure to also submit asubmission form with your child’s project. That form is attached to this e-mail. Click Here for it: University Park Elementary 2018 Astounding Inventions Submission Form
